Missed call calculator
How much are missed calls costing your business?
Multiply the calls you miss each month by what a missed call is worth: your average job times the chance that caller would have booked. A plumbing shop that gets 250 calls a month and misses 27% of them, at about $64 a missed call, loses roughly $4,350 a month in work that went to someone else. Put in your own numbers below.
Your trade
Picking a trade loads typical starting numbers. Change them to match your shop.
All inbound calls. Your phone system or carrier can usually show this.
Nights, weekends, and the times everyone’s on a job. Industry data says about 27% for home services.
Your average job times the chance a caller books. Industry data puts that around 1 in 6, so a $370 repair works out to about $63.
What missed calls cost you
$4,352 / month
About 68 missed calls a month, or $52,224 a year.
Your Rigline quote
$440
per month
$500
one-time setup
That’s 10% of what missed calls cost you each month. Includes up to 450 call minutes a month (twice what your numbers suggest), then $0.49 a minute.
Each $1 you’d spend on Rigline is up against about $10 in missed jobs. Your first year, setup included, comes to $5,780.
This is a real quote built on your numbers. During setup we check your call volume against your phone records. If the numbers hold, so does the price.
How the math works
The calculator uses three numbers, all of them yours:
- Calls per month. Every inbound call, answered or not.
- Share that go unanswered. Calls that ring out or hit voicemail: nights, weekends, and the hours when everyone’s on a job.
- What a missed call costs you. Your average job value times the chance that caller would have booked with you. About 1 in 6 is typical for home services, so a $370 repair works out to about $63.
Missed calls × cost per missed call gives you the monthly number. It assumes the calls you’re missing would book at the same rate as the ones you answer, which is a fair starting point but not a guarantee. Some missed callers leave a voicemail and wait. Many don’t.
How the Rigline quote is set
The monthly plan is 10% of what missed calls cost you, rounded to the nearest $10, with a minimum of $199 and a maximum of $1,500 a month. Setup is a one-time fee equal to one month of the plan, between $500 and $1,500. The plan includes twice the call minutes your numbers suggest (at about 3 minutes a call), and anything past that is $0.49 a minute.
During setup we check your call volume against your phone records. If your numbers hold, so does the price. If the math says Rigline won’t pay for itself, the calculator tells you that too.
Where the starting numbers come from
Each trade loads a starting point so the calculator isn’t blank. The unanswered share and booking rate come from industry call data, the job values are Denver averages from Angi, and the call counts are just examples. Swap in your own numbers as soon as you can.
| Trade | Calls / month | Unanswered | Average job | Cost per missed call |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HVAC | 300 | 27% | $370 | $63 |
| Plumbing | 250 | 27% | $374 | $64 |
| Electrical | 200 | 27% | $360 | $61 |

- $2,732 is the average water damage restoration job in Denver. Sewage cleanup often runs much higher. Angi, Denver, 2026
Where to find your own numbers
- Your phone system or carrier portal. Most business phone services (RingCentral, Grasshopper, Google Voice, and the carriers’ own portals) show total, answered, and missed calls by day and hour.
- Call tracking. If you use CallRail or similar for ads, its reports show missed and after-hours calls directly.
- Your job software. ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, and Jobber can give you average ticket by job type, which is the first half of the missed-call cost.
- A one-week tally. No reports? Count voicemails and missed-call notifications for a week and multiply by four.
FAQ
Calculator questions
Is the price from the calculator a real quote?
Yes. It’s built on the numbers you enter. During setup we check your call volume against your phone records, and if your numbers hold, that’s your price: 10% of your monthly missed-call cost, within the plan’s minimum and maximum.
What if I get more calls than I entered?
The plan includes twice the call minutes your numbers suggest, so normal swings are covered. Past that, extra minutes are $0.49 each. If your volume runs consistently higher, we’ll talk about it before any overage shows up on a bill.
What counts as a missed call?
Any call that rings out, goes to voicemail, or gets a busy signal. That includes calls during business hours when everyone’s on a job, not just nights and weekends.
How do I figure out what a missed call is worth?
Take your average job value and multiply it by the chance that a caller would have booked. Invoca’s 2026 home services data has 38% of calls being sales leads and 45% of those booking on the call, so about 1 in 6 callers books. With a $370 average repair, a missed call is worth about $63. Emergency calls usually book at a much higher rate than general questions, so if most of your missed calls are emergencies, your number is higher.
